Technical Requirements for Photos

Minimum Resolution

CraftedDocs automatically checks image resolution on upload:

  • Absolute minimum: 800 x 600 pixels (low quality — only acceptable for small graphics)
  • Standard minimum for photos: 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD)
  • Recommended for print use: 3000 x 2000 pixels or larger at 300 DPI
  • Social media optimised: 1080 x 1080 pixels (square), 1200 x 630 pixels (landscape)

Images below 800 x 600 pixels will be flagged by our verification system. Aim for at least 1920 x 1080 for every photo you sell.

File Format

  • JPG — best for photographs. Good quality at reasonable file size.
  • PNG — for graphics, illustrations and images with transparent backgrounds
  • ZIP — mandatory when selling multiple photos together. Put all photos in a ZIP.

Post-Processing

  • Correct exposure — not too dark, not blown out
  • Good white balance — skin tones and colours look natural
  • Cropped and straightened — horizons level, distracting edges removed
  • Light retouching is acceptable — remove dust spots, minor blemishes. Do not over-edit.

Step 1 — Organise Your Photos Into Packs

Never sell single photos at low prices. Always package related photos into themed packs:

  • Pack of 10 Holi Festival Photos — High Resolution JPG — Personal Use
  • 25 Indian Street Food Photography — Commercial Use License
  • 50 Nature Wallpaper Pack — Mountain and Forest — 4K Resolution

A pack of 20 photos at Rs.199 earns far more per transaction than 20 individual listings at Rs.19 each — and each pack generates 1 sale vs 20 separate purchase decisions.

Step 2 — Understand and Set Your License

This is the most important decision for photo sellers. You must clearly state what rights buyers receive:

  • Personal use — buyer can use photos for personal projects, wallpapers, printing for themselves. Cannot use in commercial products or resell. This is the default if not specified.
  • Commercial use — buyer can use photos in their business — websites, social media, marketing, advertisements. Charge Rs.100-200 more for commercial license.
  • Extended license — buyer can use photos in products they sell. Highest price tier.

Step 3 — Create Your Listing

Title

  • Holi Festival Photography Pack — 20 High Resolution JPG Images — Personal Use License
  • Indian Street Food Photography — 30 Professional Photos — Commercial Use
  • Desktop Wallpaper Pack — 50 Nature and Landscape — 4K Resolution — JPG

  • Number of photos in the pack
  • Exact resolution and dimensions
  • File format — JPG, PNG, ZIP
  • License type — personal or commercial use
  • What the photos can be used for (specify clearly)

  • Location or context where photos were taken
  • Whether photos include people — if yes, confirm model consent is obtained

Cover Image

For photo packs, create a collage showing 4-9 photos from the pack arranged in a grid. This shows the variety and quality inside. For single premium photos, use the best version of the photo itself as the thumbnail.

Free Preview

Upload 1-2 full-resolution sample photos from the pack as your preview — or upload a watermarked version. Buyers can assess quality from the preview and make a confident purchase decision.

Approval Requirements for Photos

  • Photos are your own original work — not downloaded from the internet or other stock sites
  • No copyrighted logos, brand marks or trademarked property clearly featured
  • If people appear, model consent must be confirmed in your description
  • Resolution meets minimum standards (800x600 minimum, flagged if lower)
  • Content is appropriate — no offensive, violent or adult content

Pro Tips for Photography Sellers

  • Seasonal content earns more — Holi photos sell in February-March, Diwali photos in October-November. Plan your uploads around the calendar.
  • Uniquely Indian content stands out — Indian marketplace, Indian festivals, Indian streets are less available on global stock sites. This is your competitive advantage.
  • Create niche collections — "Indian Wedding Photography", "Mumbai Street Photography", "Sunset Photography — Goa" are far more searchable than generic photo packs.
  • Offer commercial license packs — businesses and content creators are willing to pay significantly more for commercial rights
  • Always ZIP your photos — buyers expect a clean download with all files organised
